ELON CHRON: The Daily Chronicle of Elon Musk’s Companies

“Speed is the best offense and defense…” – Elon Musk (@elonmusk)

TESLA ($302.63, -1.83%):

– Per Elon, “Just fyi I don’t have personal loans at this time against Tesla stock. Also, the taxes on the options are ~45%, so net gain in voting control is more like 4%. It is worrying in that I don’t want to build millions of robots and then potentially be ousted by activists and unable to ensure that public safety remains of paramount importance.”

– Okada Manila, the first integrated resort in the Philippines with a Forbes 5-star rating and Forbes VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality badge, has partnered with Tesla to introduce the country’s first Tesla Destination Charging station.

– The National Transport Commission (NTC) of Australia announced that autonomous vehicles are nearing deployment. The NTC is collaborating with state and territory governments to create a consistent framework, as current laws only assume human drivers. The NTC did not provide a revised timeline but expresses optimism, with a spokesperson anticipating automated shuttle bus services soon. All info provided by techAU (@techAU).

– Bruna Osako Rocha, an Engineering Intern at Tesla on the Cybertruck team, presented at her Intern Showcase, reaffirming her passion for the company despite warnings about its intense environment. Having returned to Tesla twice, she thrives on the challenge of building a future where cars drive themselves, surrounded by like-minded colleagues creating a faster, smarter, cleaner ecosystem. She credits her energy to the milestone moment Tesla represents. “There’s still more ahead. I’m focused. I’m building. I’m all in.”

– A camouflaged Tesla Model Y Performance prototype was spotted testing near Tesla’s Palo Alto engineering headquarters. The vehicle had Plaid-style 20-inch wheels and red brake calipers. Were posted by electrek.

– Tesla Australia/New Zealand has continued the $3,000 Novated Lease Incentive or Lending Incentive with an order of a new Model Y. You must take delivery by the 30th September. You can also transfer EAP or FSD to your new Tesla.

– In 2025, Tesla Automation GmbH of Germany welcomed over 50 new trainees and dual students. The new hires are starting in diverse roles, including industrial mechanic, electronics technician for industrial engineering, mechatronics technician, cutting machine operator, technical product designer, warehouse logistics specialist. They are also in dual study programs for mechanical engineering, business informatics, electrical engineering, and industrial engineering. They are contributing across shop floors, offices, and lecture halls.

– The Northland Workforce Training Center’s Summer Youth Academy Mechatronics students visited Giga New York to observe STEM skills like blueprint reading, assembly, troubleshooting, and design-thinking. They are constructing a pinball machine, and honing these skills so they can apply them in advanced manufacturing and potential career pathways.

– Tesla France is offering the Model Y starting from €41,810 with the CEE Coup de Pouce bonus of €3,180.

– Big Boy continues to put in the work at Giga Texas. Video by Adan Guajardo (@AdanGuajardo).

– On August 4th Tesla will launch its first official Supercharger Station in India at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. It will consist of four V4 Stalls and four Destination Charging Stalls, giving Tesla owners flexible charging options.

– This week, Tesla’s Virtual Power Plant in California reached 535MW, with 500MW from Powerwall households. This offered a zero-emission solution with PG&E and California ISO support for a 51,276MW peak demand. A 2023 IEEE study showed a 15-20% grid stress reduction, though scalability depends on adoption and recycling. Tesla posted an X Article about this achievement. The link is in the SOURCES SECTION.

– Klarissa Garcia, Sr. Site Operations Coordinator at the Tesla Lithium Refinery, announced a partnership with This One’s for the Gals through the Powering Communities Program to provide students with real-world experiences, and aiming to break barriers and empower the next generation with new opportunities.

– Today, a Miami federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, presided over by Judge Beth Bloom, found Tesla partially liable for a 2019 Key Largo, Florida, crash involving its Autopilot system. They have ordered Tesla to pay $200 million in punitive damages and $129 million in compensatory damages, totaling $329 million. The crash occurred when driver George McGee, distracted by reaching for his dropped cellphone, failed to stop at a T-intersection, causing his Tesla Model S to strike a parked SUV, killing 22-year-old Naibel Benavides Leon and severely injuring her boyfriend, Dillon Angulo. The jury attributed one-third of the blame to Tesla for enabling driver distraction and failing to warn McGee that the road was ending.

It returned to site and land at Landing Zone 1 (LZ-1) located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This was the last and final landing to be conducted at LZ-1. LZ-2 will still be utilized, but rocket landings are now to be done from the same location they launched from.

The Crew will conduct over 200 experiments. Key research includes:

  • StemCellEx-IP1 study to produce high-quality stem cells in microgravity.

  • BioNutrients-3 to generate on-demand nutrients using engineered microbes like yogurt and yeast.

  • Genes in Space-12 to examine microgravity’s effects on bacteria and bacteriophages.

THE BORING COMPANY:

– Chad Blackburn of NueCura Partners stands alongside Steve Davis, President of The Boring Company, and Landon Gibbs, Managing Partner at Altitude Ventures. According to Chad, the Nashville Music City LOOP initiative began like this. “One day, Landon was stuck in brutal Nashville traffic. Instead of just complaining, he took action—and cold-called Arun Prakash (@prakaru), the CFO of The Boring Company. That call kicked off a series of conversations that led to today’s milestone announcement. Proud to witness and support this moment as Nashville doubles down on innovation, infrastructure, and imagination.”

– Couple of new images of Lot 16. Can’t wait until we see a Prufrock TBM sitting there.

NEURALINK:

– Per Neuralink Clinical Trials Lead, Romina Nejad (@RominaNejad),

  • 2023: 1 trial, 0 participants

  • 2024: 2 trials, 3 participants

  • …and there’s still 5 months left 🤫😉”

■ STARLINK:

– Starlink announced and update using beam-switching technology that ensures reliable high-speed internet by automatically routing traffic through one of the dozens of satellites in view. It switches in under a tenth of a second to bypass obstructions like trees or buildings. Terminals proactively switch for fixed setups and reactively for mobile or unexpected issues, using real-time obstruction mapping to maintain a stable connection. It provides 99.9% uptime, even in partially blocked areas.

This is a huge step in community development and education infrastructure. No other company in the area has even considered doing this. They have all let the area and school deteriorate. Elon, Brent Mayo (@BrentM_SpaceX), and the entire xAI Memphis Team are showing everyone what good stewardship is and how to do right by the community.

– Today, Southaven, Mississippi Mayor Darren Musselwhite officially announced that xAI has purchased the former Duke Energy facility at 2875 Stanton Road. The property was acquired by xAI affiliate MZX Tech LLC and will be reactivated to meet xAI’s electricity demands. Musselwhite emphasized that xAI has complied with all regulatory processes for permitting and is committed to exceeding emission control requirements.
