■ xAI:

– The latest image and flyover of Colossus 2. MACROHARD! Drone pilot needs some practice lol. Hey, at least we got some footage.

– The mainstream media appears to be sensationalizing xAI’s April 2025 update to generalist AI tutors’ roles on the “Project Skippy” Grok Companions initiative, requiring biometric data submission to enhance human-like interactions in training AI companions. WSJ says in an unreleased AI Tutor meeting recording xAI lawyer Lily Lim described it as a new job requirement aligned with their core duty to “train the AI.” The WSJ also criticizes standard perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, royalty-free license release forms for data use, reproduction, and distribution—common in media and gaming. They do not clarify if signing was voluntary or mandatory, noting some tutors “balked” but omitting full context. As provocative as they try to make it sound because there are NSFW settings for Adults, it is all standard business practice. And like usual, the missing context and information is standard MSM practice. No termination threats are mentioned at all.

– xAI is now a sponsor for ARC-AGI-3, the third iteration of the Abstraction and Reasoning Corpus benchmark for artificial general intelligence. They will provide financial support and resources to enhance prize pools exceeding $1 million, foster open-source AI research, and promote scalable oversight in AGI development through collaborations with organizers like François Chollet and the ARC Prize Foundation. H/T Tech Dev Notes (@techdevnotes).

– Oracle and xAI held a webinar today, titled “Next-Level AI: Driving Business Impact with Oracle Cloud and xAI.” It featured Michael Agrillo (@michael_xai), Head of Strategic Pursuits at xAI, and Anant Patel, OCI GenAI and Agents Product Architect at Oracle, including previews of upcoming collaborative features and roadmap. Another session is scheduled for November 13 at 5:00 a.m. ET for the European Market. Register HERE.
