– The Model Y L has sold out in China through October. New orders are now being slated for delivery in November. The variant saw over 35,000 orders on launch day and according to a Tesla China rep, they have averaged nearly 10,000 daily orders since.

– According to Josef Tadich, regional director of Tesla Energy, APAC, Tesla expects to have 4.5GW/12GWh of grid-forming Megapacks operating in Australia by the end of 2026, covering both the National Electricity Market and South West Interconnected System. Key projects include Hornsdale Power Reserve (150MW/194MWh), Victoria Big Battery (300MW/450MWh), Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub (600MW/1,600MWh), and Orana BESS (415MW/1,660MWh). Tesla’s white papers highlight that grid-forming inverters provide synthetic inertia, matching traditional synchronous generators, with lower costs compared to synchronous condensers. These systems offer over 99% availability, modular architecture, and blackstart capabilities.

– La Ville Hotel & Suites CITY WALK Dubai hosted a Tesla Test Drive event. The team provided Tesla-branded macarons for coffee breaks and executed the event smoothly, combining luxury and sustainability.

– Tesla will be at the Fleet & Mobility Day 2025 on September 16th at Hippodrome Paris Longchamp from 8:30 am to 6 pm. Attendees can test drive the new Model Y and discuss corporate mobility solutions with Tesla’s team. The link to register is in the sources section.

– Tesla China VP Grace Tao Lin posted these pics of Tesla at the 2025 World Intelligent Industry Expo in Shanghai. – CR Technology Systems SPA supplied the switchroom and control room for the Cheviré Megapack site in Nantes, France. It is one of the country’s largest battery storage systems (100 MW/200 MWh). The switchroom includes 36kV 2500A 25kA(1s) MV switchgears, 110 VDC system with battery, 230 VAC system with battery, patch panel, HVAC system, fire detection system, and auxiliary LV switchboard. The control room features an HV protection panel, SCADA panel, HVAC system, fire detection system, and LV switchboard. The BESS is on a former coal plant site and connected.

– Tesla China has created an official Tesla AI account on Weibo.

– Per Elon, “Designing dexterous hands for robots is a very hard problem. Then figuring out how to manufacture them at scale is 100 times harder.“

■ SPACEX:

– This morning, launch 117 of Falcon 9 SDA Tranche 1 Transport Layer B took place from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. This was the sixth flight for first stage booster B1093. It previously launched five Starlink missions. The booster landed on drone ship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean.

This was a classified mission launched by the Space Development Agency (SDA) for the Tranche 1 Transport Layer and the first 21 of 154 satellites for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), built by York Space Systems, to enhance tactical data delivery, missile threat tracking, and beyond-line-of-sight targeting for joint warfighters. The launch marks the start of a 10-month campaign to deploy 126 Transport Layer and 28 Tracking Layer satellites. This included German company Mynaric’s Laser Communication Terminals.

The first pic include York Space VP of DC Ops Jon Estridge, York Space CEO Dirk Wallinger, Space Development Agency Acting Director Gurpartap Sandhoo, and Chairman of York Space and SmallSat Alliance Charles Beames. The other two pics are of Col. James Horne III, Space Launch Delta 30 commander, hosting honorary commanders and civic leaders to observe the event, part of a program to engage local communities with base operations.

– Yesterday at Pad 1’s OLM, SpaceX removed all 20 of the Booster hold-down clamps and a piece of plating. Today, they installed the modified Starship transport stand adapter. – In an interview with ars Technica, SpaceX’s VP of Build and Flight Reliability, Bill Gerstenmaier (@Boca_Bill_R) said for Flight 11 in October, SpaceX will implement “crunch wrap” sealing material around all tiles to prevent gaps without gap fillers. Per Bill, “We call it crunch wrap. It’s like a wrapping paper that goes around each tile, and then… these tiles are mechanically held in place. They’re snapped in by a robot. When we push the tile in, this little wrapping paper essentially sits around the sides of each one of the tiles, and then we cut it off on the surface.”

Bill also stated V3 will debut suborbitally, with orbital attempts possibly on Flight 13 or later to enable full recovery, heat shield inspections, next-gen Starlink deployments, and orbital refueling demos in 2026. Link in the sources section.

Launch 120! Sunday, 14th of September, at 6:11 p.m. ET, Falcon 9 Cygnus CRS-2 NG-23 will launch from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. The booster will land on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean. This is the 23rd flight of the Northrop Grumman’s uncrewed resupply spacecraft Cygnus and its 22nd flight to the International Space Station under the Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA.

IMAP (Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe) is a NASA mission to study interactions between solar wind and local interstellar medium. Carrying a suite of 10 scientific instruments to investigate how particles are accelerated, determine their composition, as well as help to advance space weather forecasting models. This launch also includes several secondary payloads from NASA, which are: Lunar Trailblazer, space weather satellite SWFO-L1, mission GLIDE to study far ultraviolet emission in exosphere, and the Solar Cruiser solar sail mission.

■ THE BORING COMPANY:

– State Republican Sen. Mark Pody, representing eastern Davidson County and Nashville International Airport, met with state agencies and the Boring Company, and is now proposing to expand The Music City Loop route to the East Bank, including the Titans stadium and Oracle headquarters, and the Music City Star depot in Donelson.

■ NEURALINK:

– Twelve individuals worldwide now live with a Neuralink BCI implant! They have collectively amassed 2,000 days of implant functionality and over 15,000 hours of active use.

■ STARLINK:

– Elon 100% indicated Starlink could become a global mobile carrier. Per Elon yesterday during the All-In Summit, “To be clear, we’re not going to put the other carriers out of business. They’re still going to be around because they own a lot of spectrum… But yes, you should be able to have Starlink like you have an AT&T, or T-Mobile, or Verizon, or whatever.”

SpaceX’s plans to use the newly acquired radio spectrums (1.9GHz and 2GHz bands) from EchoStar to enhance Starlink’s cellular service. The goal is to offer a “comparable experience to terrestrial LTE.”

He avoided confirming a Starlink phone, stating, “This is a long-term thing. It will allow SpaceX to deliver high-bandwidth connectivity directly from the satellites to the phones. But there are hardware changes that need to happen in the phones. So, since these frequencies are not supported in current phones, the chipset has to be modified to add these frequencies. And that is probably a two-year timeframe.”

– Bryan Moore (@Doitforbmoore), CEO of DriveMedia’Inc, posted new pics of their custom TT Aero Starlink kit. This was built for a customer in Australia, and utilizes Novotel GPS built into airfoil. “We have our products all over the world for so many different types of missions; News & broadcast, Fire & Safety, Communications, and growing.”

– Since Starlink for businesses in Bangladesh has gone live, over 20 firms, including Eastern Bank, Ibn Sina Group, Channel 24, and Ananta Group, have signed up. Eastern Bank is the first in the banking sector to adopt the service, delivered via an 80 antenna Gateway in Kaliakoir, Gazipur, the largest Starlink gateway globally. Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) is building a reseller network, with 25 applications under review for nationwide distribution.

■ X:

– X’s Head of APAC, Alan Lan (@bluealan), hosting the X for Brands Summit Thailand in Bangkok. A full house of brands and agencies explored the future of X and how Grok is seamlessly integrated into every layer of the ads platform, enabling smarter, more targeted campaigns.

– X Devs announced a new X (Enterprise) API feature introduces webhooks for the Filtered Stream, allowing users to receive real-time filtered posts based on robust rulesets without maintaining a persistent HTTP connection. This enables more efficient and scalable access to relevant X posts for enterprise applications.

– Today, X UK had Love is Blind star Kieran Holmes-Darby (@KieranHDarby) in office answering questions from X users as part of a Ask Kieran event. Users were invited to submit their questions by including the hashtag #AskKieran in their posts.

■ xAI:

– xAI Technical Staff Member Eric Zelikman (@ericzelikman) announced his departure from the company today to start a new venture.

– According to Korean new outlet Business Post, Samsung Electronics’ foundry division is supposedly in discussions to supply custom AI chips (ASICs) for Grok with the goal of enhancing its inference capabilities. An unnamed source says the project is still in the design and development phase. None of this has been confirmed by xAI or Samsung.

I am sure you already know, but Iryna was a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who fled Kyiv with her family in 2022 to escape the war following Russia’s invasion. She settled in Charlotte, North Carolina. On August 22, she was brutally stabbed in an unprovoked attack on Charlotte’s Lynx Blue Line train by Decarlos Brown Jr., a 34-year-old with a long criminal history. He has at least 14 arrests for felony larceny, armed robbery and threats, felony breaking and entering, assault on a female and property damage, and breaking and entering with conspiracy and threats. Brown was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Why he was on the streets is beyond me.
