Here is what xAI is doing in Memphis. The NatGas Power Plant being manufactured overseas will be in Southaven and a Solar Plant will be in Boxtown.

Block 1 is Colossus 2, and the open area next to it will be the worlds largest Tesla Megapack (energy storage system) site and Chiller Plant.
Further south in Block 2 is a former Duke Energy natural gas plant and where xAI will build a Compressed NatGas power plant. Workers have already been spotted on-site, and there are staging yards in the surrounding areas. I’m still not sure who the supplier is, where it is coming from, or the type of CNG plant.
Block 3 is Colossus 1. It already has 216 Megapacks on site! Maybe more since the last time I was able to count. Directly north of the data center is where xAI will build the worlds most technologically advanced Gray Water facility so they do not have to use the Memphis Sand Aquifer and can pump clean water back into the Mississippi River.
Block 4 is the 522 acres of the Frank C. Pidgeon Industrial Park that EDGE Memphis leased to xAI in October of 2024. This area will hold the Solar Plant. xAI has repeatedly told the city they would do good by the citizens and hinted about a renewable energy project. xAI postponed the project because the previous lease owner asked if he could turn one more crop before he retires.
Per xAI, “Farming is important to our country and letting local businesses achieve a return on their investment is the right thing to do.”
xAI continues to go above and beyond. No other companies would even consider building Solar Plants, Gray Water Facilities, Massive Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Power Plants. All to meet the company needs and to protect the community.
Along with all of this, as xAI enters Memphis, other major companies are following in tow. DELL, Supermicro, Nvidia, and more all plan to set up in Memphis to support xAI. This means more high paying jobs and opportunities for the people.
Memphis has an unprecedented opportunity to become the World Leader in AI. Politicians have taken note of this and I will only say this. Do not listen to those using fear as a platform to move themselves up the political ladder. They are doing at the expense of a great future for their constituents.
