■ THE BORING COMPANY:
– Today, the Clark County Commission unanimously approved land-use permits for The Boring Company’s six-story, 132-unit apartment building at 4300 Paradise Road in Las Vegas. The project includes a ground-level bodega, drive-thru coffee shop, residents-only bar/lounge, game room, gym, and second-floor courtyard, with only 24 parking spaces, plus one entrance and one exit for street-level vehicle traffic.
The project ties into the existing University Center Loop segment running from a site on Paradise south of the complex to the Westgate, with stops at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and multiple sites serving Sphere and the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Occupancy for the apartments will not be issued until the attached Vegas Loop station receives its certificate of occupancy from the county.Represented by Stephanie Gronauer of Kampfer Crowell, the approval includes conditions such as calling a public meeting for design review.
– Tennessee State Representative Mike Sparks plans to ask Elon to consider an underground tunnel between Murfreesboro and Nashville to reduce severe traffic congestion. A 30-35 minute commute can take four hours, so he is aiming to halve traffic, cut accidents, and lower emissions.
– Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner will propose to the City Commission today, studying underground tunnels with The Boring Company to ease traffic congestion. This includes engineering, environmental, funding, and integration with systems like the rejected Metromover extension and June 2025 water taxi terms. This revives his 2022 resolution, unacted upon despite passing, amid flooding risks on porous limestone.

– It is being reported that xAI’s Chief Financial Officer, Mike Liberatore (@mlib16), has left the company. Mike was only with the company a few months. This has not been confirmed by Mike or xAI.
– U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of California, Rita F. Lin, granted an emergency restraining order today, forcing ex-xAI engineer Xuechen Li to surrender all personal electronic devices, online storage accounts, and digital repositories for forensic examination within three days. The order bars Li from performing any generative AI work at OpenAI or any xAI competitor until all stolen data is confirmed deleted. A hearing on xAI’s motion for a preliminary injunction is scheduled for October 7th. xAI is represented by Winston & Strawn LLP, led by former U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Director Kathi Vidal, while Li is represented by Christian E. Picone of Berliner Cohen.
Again, Li allegedly copied xAI’s confidential information to personal devices on July 25th, sold approximately $7 million worth of xAI stock that same day, and resigned from xAI three days later on July 28th, before his planned start date at OpenAI on August 19th.
