It will feature 256 Megapacks connected via 120 kV to the NV Energy Mira Loma substation to support regional grid stability and renewable energy integration. The project requires further approval from the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission as a Project of Regional Significance. ■ THE BORING COMPANY (@boringcompany):
– We have another two Vegas LOOP updates from Michel (@Mic_VegasSphere)!
-
First, he hit the Westgate station and immediately noticed a Prufrock sitting onsite. Not sure which TBM it is or why it is there. The entrance to the airport tunnel at Westgate is still being worked on. The Loop is running today and Fontainebleau and Encore are open. This was also the first time Michel saw the Fontainebleau station on the sign. Everyone follow and support Michel!
-
2nd, Michel visited the new Fontainebleau (FB) resort station! He bought an ticket via the app, and rode from the Westgate to West Hall at the convention center, then north past Riviera station, crossed Elvis Presley Blvd into the FB parking lot, and stopped at the station.
Per Michel, “From Westgate to FB I can see using it in hot or bad weather. From LVCA it’s better than using Riviera because it’s climate controlled. And now if you wanted to go to Encore from FB and back it’s easier and a lot cheaper and faster than a taxi. When they finish A’s stadium you can stay at Westgate, Resorts World or FB and be to the game in less than 10 minutes for a few dollars!”
– Lates images of the Music City LOOP dig site.
– Today, the proposed bill to create the Tennessee Subterranean Transportation Infrastructure Coordination Authority, a board to oversee and fast-track tunnel projects, including Nashville’s Music City Loop, advanced in the House Transportation Committee and Senate Government Operations Committee. It reduces staff from roughly 20 to 3 full-time employees and cuts first-year state spending to about $500,000 to address taxpayer concerns. The next step is a committee vote next week due to a delayed House vote. If approved, it goes to full House and Senate votes. The authority is to take effect July 2026.
Not-a-Boring Competition:
-
Penn Hyperloop (@Penn_Hyperloop), “Our 2026 micro-tunnel boring machine is fully assembled and prepared for deployment. The engineering architecture we brought to the trench includes the following core subsystems:
– Excavation: A 4kW inline gearmotor pushing 2.7 kN-m of torque through a custom 20-inch CNC cutterhead.
– Propulsion: A heavy-duty pipe-jacking screwjack delivering 50 kiloNewtons of thrust.
– Muck Removal: A robust fluid slurry conditioning system paired with an industrial vacuum truck.
– Control Systems: A Siemens S7-1200 PLC managing live telemetry, automation, and strict safety interlocks.Everything culminates this Saturday. We have an 8-hour operational window to execute the dig, prove our hardware, push the boundaries of urban topology, and beat the snail…”
-
Talpa Tunneling (@TalpaUpv), “Day 2. Checks. Adjustments. Decisions. And for the first time, actual excavation. 1.4 meters underground. It may seem little. But here, every meter counts. We keep going… Everything’s on the line. This is what the competition looks like from the inside. Unfiltered. Nonstop. Just hard work, pressure, and real-time decisions. Three days. One goal. And what comes next… changes everything. Thanks to everyone who makes it possible.”
-
Diggeridoos (@DiggeridoosVT), “Day 3 brought big tests and even bigger energy. We spun the cutter face and put the hydraulics to work. All gas no brakes. Dig or die… How fast can the Diggeridoos eat a dozen donuts? We had to find out.”
■ NEURALINK (@neuralink): N/A…
■ STARLINK (@Starlink):
– As British Airways rolls out Starlink across its fleet and bandwidth is no longer a limiting factor, they are allowing voice and video calls. They urge passengers to use headphones for all audio, keep voice levels low, avoid inappropriate content, and respect shared cabin space. Most airlines still prohibit calls despite improved connectivity.
■ 𝕏 (@x):
– Nikita Bier, X Head of Product (@nikitabier), posted that X is implementing auto-locking plus extra verification for any account that posts about cryptocurrency for the first time in its history. The change targets scam accounts created solely to spread crypto phishing and spam. “This should kill 99% of the incentive, especially since Google isn’t doing shit to stop the phishing emails.”
■ xAI (@xai):
– There are reports that SpaceX will host an analyst day on April 21st and will offer analysts a visit to MACROHARD in Memphis two days later on April 23rd. No source is given, and SpaceX, xAI, not Elon have confirmed this.
