ELON CHRON: The Daily Chronicle of Elon Musk’s Companies

“Is the algorithm starting to feel better?” – Elon Musk (@elonmusk)

TESLA ($443.21, +0.64%):

– Tesla’s posted a new video to persuade shareholder approval for Elon’s new pay-for-performance plan (Proposal 4). This plan is linked directly to Tesla’s next phase of growth and value creation. The plan basically ties Elon’s voting rights to delivering economic value. The board is encouraging shareholders to vote “FOR” Proposal 4. Voting instructions available at votetesla.com.

– I visited the Brookshire, Texas, Megafactory on Saturday. Very little activity this past Saturday. HVAC units are staged in the west side parking lot of the main factory and possibly materials for installing them on the south side. Perimeter apron looks complete except for a few areas of concrete work and electricians finishing up around new facility. A few docking bays are being updated. Drainage system complete. There were a few roll-up doors open, and from what I could see, there is still no equipment inside. 70 pics posted for subscribers!

– Tesla has activated its first V4 Supercharger cabinet in Rosewood City, California. It is delivering 0.5 MW total power to support up to 2x more stalls (eight superchargers), achieving 3x higher power density for increased throughput and efficiency while reducing costs and accelerating deployments. It is currently limited to Tesla vehicles; non-Tesla EV compatibility is pending final validations.

John and the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley (@teslaownersSV) crew were with Tesla’s Max de Zegher (@MdeZegher) at the V4 launch. Per Max, “We have the best power electronics engineers in the world, because we need the most of it, and across Tesla. The V4 Supercharger cabinet benefits from engineering and parts from Megapack, Powerwall and our S3XY vehicles. It feels like a cheat code.“ Max gave us the pics of the V4 Team and interior of the cabinet. The bottom pic is of the first public plug-in. John provided the pic with Max.

I have told Max this before, but I really hope he and the team know how much we all appreciate the hard work and effort they put in for us. This network means a lot.

– Tesla was at the Up.Summit Community Day in Bentonville, Arkansas. On hand was Optimus, Cybercab, and a Robotaxi. Screenshots from Marcus_the_Astronot (@ksclc39a) videos.

– Per Tesla’s VP of Finance Sendil Palani (@sendilpalani), “Was able to visit Giga Berlin last month, and witness what the plant can do now that it is really stretching its legs. The factory was originally configured to build the structural pack Model Y, reoriented itself towards the (now) legacy design, and then once again to the New Model Y, including the Performance variant. Quality, Cost, and Volume achieving records as we leverage the talent of the entire team there alongside the learnings from the past several years.”

– Tesla and Copec Flux signed a strategic alliance to integrate Megapacks into medium and large-scale projects in Chile. Copec Flux is Tesla’s first Certified Service Partner in the country. Copec Flux technicians and engineers are being trained by Tesla in the US for operating, maintaining, and commissioning the systems, ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and local support. The partnership’s first implementation involves installing three Megapacks in the hybrid solar PMGD Cousiño project in the Pirque, Metropolitan Region.

Per Sandra Barba Lizarralde, Tesla’s Business Development and Policy lead for Latin America, “I am proud to share that, together with great allies like Copec Flux, we are taking battery storage to another level in the country. This type of partnership not only reaffirms Tesla as an industry leader, but ensures world-class local support and accelerates the adoption of solutions such as Megapack in large-scale projects.”

– Tesla Malaysia sold their 10,000th vehicle. Pics by Tesla Advisor, Leona Bong. “So glad I got to be part of this milestone and to see how we’re accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable abundance!

– X Global Government Affairs (@GlobalAffairs) posted concerns about the recent order from the Karnataka court in India, which will allow millions of police officers to issue arbitrary takedown orders through a secretive online portal called the Sahyog. X argued this violates Article 19(1)(a) free speech rights, the 2015 Shreya Singhal Supreme Court ruling mandating court or Section 69A orders for takedowns, and contradicts the Bombay High Court’s recent invalidation of a similar government fact-checking regime stripping safe harbor protections. The single-judge bench, led by Justice Nagaprasanna, rejected the plea, deeming Sahyog a “public good” for combating cybercrime, asserting social media cannot operate in “anarchic freedom” or treat India as a “playground.”

– You may have seen MSM being dramatic and shocked that Elon has placed 20 year old Diego Pasini (@Diego__Pasini) as a lead on the Grok Team. So I thought we should review some of his achievements and see if it is warranted. Diego graduated high school in 2023, where he served on the robotics team and presented drone research at MIT. He then enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania to study computer science and economics. In 2024, he became a fellow at Contrary investment firm, focusing on robotics and hard tech startups.

In January, he and his Team won xAI’s grand prize at its San Francisco hackathon with their “Grok as Your Hitchhiker’s Guide to X” tool. This tool fetches tweets via an X username, builds an interactive graph from the data, and allows users to explore it with guidance from Grok AI; it used Python (Uvicorn backend), npm (frontend), and API keys for xAI, X, and OpenAI.

8 months later he took a leave from the University of Pennsylvania to begin work at xAI. Here recently in September, Elon promoted him to head the Grok training data annotation team, overseeing labeling across STEM, coding, finance, legal, media, and other tasks. Diego was part of the recent restructuring where they had layoffs of generalist tutors and hiring specialized tutors. Per Elon, “Diego is making the right moves. Some super smart tutors at xAI. I meet with them regularly.”

– Jason Strickland of Preferred Sales Agency celebrated the success of Gigi Campbell (@GigiZhang461790) and her HICO Team after installing a 245kV 80kA circuit breaker for xAI at Colossus 2. Per Jason, “Electrifying Success in Memphis, TN! We’re beyond excited to celebrate our partnership with Gigi and HICO, delivering this breaker to one of America’s largest data centers in the Mid South!

– Per xAI Colossus Lead, Brent Mayo (@BrentM_SpaceX), “The amount of hardcore engineers we have xAI is hard to comprehend. If you are in a room with individuals, you’re quite literally around the brightest minds in our country. Develop, question requirement, make requirements less dumb, all the things happen on an hourly basis here! That said, we need more engineers and executors.“ Apply here.
