ELON CHRON: The Daily Chronicle of Elon Musk’s Companies

“It has indeed come to this…” – Elon Musk (@elonmusk)

TESLA ($395.94, +7.36%):

– Nick Carter, CEO of Akaysha Energy, shared a site visit update on the Orana 415MW/1,660MWh Megapack site in Wellington, NSW, Australia. He praised Tesla’s on time delivery and easy installation. The facility, one of Australia’s and the world’s largest is under construction by Consolidated Power Projects with operations targeted for 2026 in the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.

– According to The Cybertruck Guy (@cybrtrkguy), limited 2024 Foundation Series Cybertrucks are available in Tesla’s US inventory as new units, with some designated as demo models. Pricing is set at $89,990 for the AWD and $108,000 for Cyberbeast. Each comes with Free Lifetime Supercharging, FSD, and the All-Terrain tires. They are not eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit.

– The new Glacier Blue Model Y is now available in the Middle East.

– According to Mie (@mieisgood), this is the construction site for Tesla’s new Fukuoka Island City Center, Japan. If true, I believe this will be Tesla’s first stand alone facility. The have only refurbished existing locations prior to this. I have not seen any confirmation of this project and no official Tesla announcements. That does not mean Mie is incorrect. If you can confirm this is a Tesla site, let us know. Per Mie, “I came to check it out because I had some free time… The Tesla Center in Fukuoka Island City is pretty big!

– Yurika, part of Energy Queensland – the largest, wholly government-owned electricity company in Australia, updated that the Broadsound project, located between Mackay and Rockhampton, has received its first transformer for the 33kV/275kV substation that will connect 645,000 solar modules and 100 Megapack to the grid. The battery system will stabilize solar generation, support grid stability in the Isaac region, and power 145,000 homes.

– Tesla Board Chair Robyn Denholm was interviewed by Bloomberg’s Ed Ludlow (@EdLudlow) today from Tesla’s Palo Alto Engineering HQ to discuss the company’s proposed compensation agreement for Elon. “Elon Musk is a generational leader and the right CEO during this transformative period of time. He is back and front and center at the company these days; What he does from a personal perspective in terms of his political motivations, etc, is up to him. From our perspective as a board, we’re measuring him on results and what he does as the CEO of Tesla.”

On xAI, she said, “So, clearly, there are 16 proposals overall in the proxy. The xAI proposal is a shareholder proposal that has been put into the board… The reason why we have not put a recommendation is that we want to hear from shareholders, in terms of what their views are, as to whether or not we should make an investment in xAI… There’s a lot of misunderstanding of AI in the marketplace. It is not one thing, it is a range of technologies. What Tesla is doing today with AI is quite different to what xAI does… As you can see behind me, with Optimus, we’re taking real world application of AI and putting it into physical products to actually empower those products to do things.”

Robyn also talks about the company’s milestones, China sales, and ,uch more. Full interview in the sources section. HQ pic by Ed.

– NODWIN Gaming announced a collaboration with Tesla for the Grand Finals of Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) Season 4, marking Tesla’s first partnership with an Indian esports tournament. The event features top 16 teams competing in a LAN format from starting today to 14th in New Delhi, with a prize pool of INR 1.5 crore. Tesla is showcasing the Model Y on-site.

– The 2025.32.3 software update greatly reduces Bluetooth audio latency on units with AMD-based infotainment units. This addresses delays in streaming content that cause audio-video sync issues when playing videos from mobile devices. H/T @NotATeslaApp.

THE BORING COMPANY: N/A… boring.

NEURALINK: N/A…

■ STARLINK:

– Per Lauren Dreyer (@LaurenDreyer), SpaceX VP of Starlink Business Operations, “The single biggest obstacle seen all around the world is the acceptance of the status quo. When leaders envision the future their people need, and drive for rapid progress towards that future, remarkable transformation is possible… Everybody wins when regulatory approvals are efficiently granted.” Lauren was recently interviewed by The South African media outlet where she identifies the acceptance of the status quo as the primary obstacle to a digitally transformed world. She emphasizes that Starlink’s technology can connect every square kilometer globally bypassing costly ground infrastructure. She notes that every country has offline populations needing urgent connectivity plans. Efficient regulatory timelines, measured in hours or days, are critical to closing the digital divide.

– InfraMap SAS, founded and managed by Simon Angielczyk, has deployed its first GCTrackr device in Quebec, Canada, for topographic surveying of post-construction plans (TQC) on a trenching machine, in collaboration with MARAIS GROUP and Hydro-Québec. The mission addressed challenges in a remote “white zone” without cellular networks by installing the world’s first Starlink on a trenching machine to transmit data. For wooded construction sites, the new connection optimized GNSS signal reception. Security features reduced on-site personnel by automating open-trench network surveys. Next steps involve data processing in France for upcoming projects.

■ X:

– X Regional Head of Government Affairs MENA, Reem Sadek (@ReemSadek), presented a workshop on leveraging X at Sharjah International Government Communication Center. She engaged UAE government digital teams with xAI’s latest innovations, best practices for establishing a online presence, and practical applications of Grok for government communicators. The session was hosted by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) at their headquarters.

– The X App will soon have Grok Imagine as an integrated feature for SuperGrok and Premium+ subscribers. The rollout begins soon, most likely on iOS and in select countries. H/T P4mui (@P4mui). 👋

– X MENA’s small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) assistant, Mira El Bahri (@Mirabahrix), announced a 30-minute webinar on creative strategies to enhance advertising on X. It is this Wednesday, September 17th, at 2 p.m. KSA. Registration link is in the sources section.

■ xAI:

– Multiple xAI Memphis team members, including Alexander Coppess (@TheAlexCoppess) and Andree Jacobson (@nmswede), hosted recent grads from CodeCrew (@_CodeCrew) yesterday.

Per Alex, “Nothing is more important than inspiring the next generation of builders. Thank you CodeCrew for visiting!

Per Andree, “Had the great pleasure of chatting with the excellent CodeCrew people at Colossus 1 yesterday. This team and recent grads from the program helps bring coding and engineering to underrepresented groups locally. Truly inspiring to answer questions from this crew!

– Grok 4 Mini, referenced as “grok-4-mini-thinking”, is an upcoming lightweight variant designed for faster responses with reasoning capabilities similar to Grok 3 Mini. It includes a note of “Available for a limited time” on the basic/free tier, suggesting a promotional rollout to broaden access before restricting it to paid subscribers. H/T @blankspeaker.

– Per xAI founder member Toby Pohlen (@TobyPhln), “Exceptional products need exceptional models that need exceptional compute resources. xAI has built a compute advantage that will grow exponentially with the delivery of Colossus 2, unlocking next-gen models.”

– Per Vercel CEO, Guillermo Rauch (@rauchg), “Locking in at the xAI – Vercel (@vercel) hackathon.” Last night the hackathon was held in San Francisco.

Jessie X, an AI entrepreneur and product manager, built a mental healing web app using Vercel, v0 by Vercel, and Grok, without writing code. Jessie drafted a product requirements document (PRD) in 15 minutes, and v0 generated a Supabase framework with a Tailwind-based UI in ~2 minutes. Features included smooth browser/UI previews, easy integration with Grok API and Supabase, and voice-command revisions via Wispr Flow (28 revisions in 3 hours). However, after ~10 versions, v0 forgot core features, and after ~20, it broke routes and failed to fix bugs, resulting in a 30% functional app. Jessie concluded that v0 is fast but lacks control for complex builds, questioning the role of AI coding tools for product managers and engineers. A favorite project was a location-syncing app for hiking/partying.

Bella Koosh, Robert Nochez, Giselle Venegas, and Carlos Navarro developed Sendy, an app for collaborative trip planning and expense tracking. Sendy ties expenses to specific itinerary items, tracks debts privately between the payer and debtor, and includes features like QR code trip invites, event-based itineraries, smart payback via PayPal, currency conversion, xAI-powered itinerary suggestions, and financial literacy resources. The team used Vercel’s v0 for rapid prototyping, creating a solution to make group travel fair, organized, and stress-free.
